There seems to be an extreme hypocrisy competition among Trump sycophants in Congress, reminiscent of Republican statements condemning Trump’s role instigating the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol only to later claim it was an “unauthorized sight-seeing tour by Grandmas.” Our Representative Tom McClintock is one of the competitors, as his recent post on X reveals.
As Kate Sills, who is running to replace McClintock, pointed out, this is just another example of Tom’s hypocrisy.
Tom knows that subverting Congress and international law only weakens our moral ground globally. This gives a clear signal to Russia regarding Ukraine, Moldova and other neighboring countries, and to China with regard to Taiwan. On what moral standing can we defend any ally against more powerful nations when we flagrantly disregard the sovereignty of nations in which there has been no formal declaration of war by Congress.
To make matters worse, Trump is now threatening to annex Greenland from Denmark, an ally that fought with our troops in Afghanistan. And he may be more than joking about Canada.
My son is in the Marines. I can only pray that he is not sent to unlawfully invade another country at the command of our sleepy yet megalomaniacal President.
We need to be represented by someone with a spine. Tom McClintock is afraid to stand up to Trump and afraid to stand up in front of his constituents. He’s drawing a paycheck and will draw a pension for an occasional X tweet that few people even notice (24 in this case as of today) that only contradicts his own stated views when it pertains to President Obama.
Not to mention, the blatant lies we’ve heard him say on his so called “town hall” robo-calls. We can do better than this. Please check out the candidates that are running to replace Tom. Any one of them would be a hundred times better than Tom McClintock for District 5. We don’t need a return to the Monroe Doctrine nor do we need “Donroe.” We need people that will restore the dignity and respect our nation has had in our greatest times.
