January 8th National Indivisible Meeting

What’s the Plan?

January 8th, 2026 National Indivisible Meeting Notes

A few notes from today’s “What’s the plan?” Indivisible call.

  • We all need to protest or hold vigils for Renee Good killing
  • There will be a No Kings III — date to be announced soon.
  • Petition your state to pass “ICE Show Your Face” no mask law so ICE can’t wear masks.
  • The primaries enable us to put pressure on candidates to push back on Trump administration.
  • We are not suggesting you stay at home and wait. Organize your own local events.
  • The idea of repeated No Kings is to show sustained support for defending democracy and protesting fascism.
  • Spotify let the contract run out for ICE ads and so far has not committed to allowing more ICE ads. We can celebrate this as a victory.
  • Indivisible has state lead coordinators. They should know what is happening locally and how to get involved.
  • Q: Can we get the Dems to hold daily news conferences on the Capitol steps to provide the truth about what is happening? The current dominant thinking in the upper echelons of Democrats is that they are just waiting for the primaries. Most want to stay out of the news.
  • If you want Democrats in congress that are more tactical, you need to get some new blood in the primaries. (Don’t settle from those that will sit on their hands or are too passive).
  • No Kings III is about building a broad and deep national movement to push back on authoritarianism.
  • We ask that people have as many vigils as possible for Renee Good. We need to recognize this tragedy. Renee is the 9th person that has been shot by ICE. We need to collectively bear witness.
  • Jarring to see such blatant propaganda about January 6th, 2021! But, your messaging is strongest when you don’t focus on how fascistic this regime is. It is more effective to talk about how their actions are affecting us. For example, we can frame what we say about January 6th that it is a national day of tragedy. This will help not alienate people that are on the fence.
  • We need to read up on what the American Revolution was about. This is our history. We can’t let kleptocratic Nazi’s re-write our history and values.
  • Ezra recommended a book on the American Revolution he felt was great. (I didn’t get the name.)
