Vigil for the Disappeared (Placer County)

Event Link: Vigil for the Disappeared · Indivisible
In the 70's, over 30,000 men, women, and children were "disappeared" by the authoritarian regime in Argentina. Trump admires these authoritarian strong men and is following their pattern. In Argentina, mothers of Playa de Mayo fought back by protesting everyday to get accountability from the government and to get their loved ones back. They risked their lives and some were tortured and killed. We are following in these authoritarian footsteps by kidnapping residents of America and sending them to the concentration camp* in El Salvador. They are not getting DUE PROCESS. Are they guilty or innocent? Is it justified or not? At the heart of it, it doesn't matter. These people did not get due process and a chance to prove their innocence. The government did not have to prove their guilt in court. May 1st is another nationwide day of protest. There is a conflict that day with the AADC, so our vigil will be held on April 30th instead. Details: 1. Silent vigil, not a wave and chant protest 2. Wear white shirts, dresses, or other clothing to honor the mothers of Playa de Mayo in Argentina. 3. Bring a chair, if you can, to stand behind to emphasize the missing. 4. Signs should reference the lack of due process. You could have a sign with just a silhouette portrait or the outline of a body with no details. Scales of justice. Justice behind bars. Be creative but fall within the subject of our vigil.
